Episode 8 | I am not Nathan Hinkle

Hey Trailblazers, no you don’t have to adjust the sound on your device, this isn’t Nathan. This is Chris Emmons. Thank you for joining with me this week.

God has called you to be a leader or influencer here at White Oak and these bi-weekly updates are to engage, encourage, and equip you as a Trailblazer as we enter into this season in our Shaken initiative.

We just finished up the second of our two Vision Nights, with this past Sunday at our Colerain Campus. And man, it was awesome to be there and see all of the friendly faces, the amazing look at White Oak’s history, to experience the powerful worship, and the moving message of where God is boldly taking us into the future. And it’s an added bonus that we got some pretty delicious ice cream and cool new Shaken gear. I hope that if you were able to attend one of those two evenings, then you felt the same inspiration and encouragement I felt by those both nights. As awesome as they were, Vision Night is now over and Shaken is just weeks away!

Blazing the trail with you,

Chris Emmons

I can barely believe that our Shaken series is less than 3 weeks away. On October 23rd, we will kick the public phase of our two-year Shaken initiative. And let me tell you, I am excited about a few things that are going to be happening.

  1. I’m excited I get to finally wear my Shaken gear! That shirt and the bracelet are really cool, and I know many of you are eager to get to sport that gear in a public way. Don’t worry, the time is coming soon. On October 23rd, make sure you’re wearing your Shaken gear to church so everyone sees that something BIG is happening.

  2. I’m excited to see people at both campuses engage in deep levels of trust in God. It’s no secret that Ross has been seeing all kinds of new families walk through our doors. It’s humbling to see how God has been bringing people in our doors, and I believe he’s doing that because all of them need to be SHAKEN. For many of these families, this could be the first time they are boldly trusting God to shake up their lives and push them towards deeper levels of trust. This may be the first time they give to a church. This may be the first time they engage with a life group. Did you know that we want everyone in our church to engage in a Shaken group during this season? 100% engagement. What this means for you is that we need more groups now than ever. Would you consider leading a Shaken group? We provide all the material for you to facilitate conversation. All you need is a place to meet and willing spirit and God can do amazing things through you. If you are interested, you can reach out to Kent Odor at kodor@thewocc.com.

  3. Finally, I’m excited and, if I’m honest, a little nervous about what God is going to do in mine and my family’s life. Pam and I have been praying and talking about the places where God is going to move us. How he is going to boldly ask us to shake up our lives. Right now, I don’t know where that is, but I’m trusting God will show us the path as he always has.

Remember to be brushing up on your vision speech which is your one-minute summary of what Shaken is all about. This is what you will share with others when they ask you about Shaken and you get to share how you feel God is beginning to shake you up. For me it goes like this:

Shaken means I’m trusting God to move me boldly out in ways that I can’t do on my own. I’m trusting him to push me into deeper faith and showing me where in my life I need to be changed. I’m going all in on whatever path that God puts before me, and I’m trusting that he will continue to provide as he always has!

Please be praying for our church family and for the Holy Spirit’s work on us. Pray for our communities and that they would be moved toward Jesus because of the work being done in us.

Trailblazers, Thank you for joining with me this week and we’ll catch you again next time.
