The Men of White Oak are "Stepping Up"

Updated: Dec 6, 2023

One of the core objectives of WOCC’s Mens Ministry is to provide the space for men to connect with and grow their spirituality. A great example of that objective in practice happened on April 29th. That Saturday, nearly 80 men spent the day with each other at the Stepping Up event. These men experienced an event that inspired men to be courageous by being who God has called them to be.

Specifically, the content helped us understand what manly courage looks like and dove into the stages of manhood which are boyhood, adolescence, manhood, mentor, and patriarch. The goal was for men to evaluate themselves and determine what stage they are in as well as what may be holding them back from becoming the man God has called them to be.

Throughout the day, the content was viewed via a video series that was followed by various types of breakout sessions that challenged men to connect with each other and God as they consumed and processed the message.

Furthermore, the men participated in worship and learned from other mean of WOCC through a panel discussion. The result was various types of content to deepen the message and touch the hearts of the men in attendance.

The full Stepping Up study is 10 sessions long, this one-day event covered the first 4 sessions. At the end of the day, men signed up to participate in small groups that would cover the remaining 6 sessions. There are 7 small groups being conducted allowing the man of WOCC to further grow and connect with each other, just as God has designed us to do.
