As you serve with Big Creek missions, you’ll have the opportunity to work in three areas of service:
Construction - Help repair and rebuild homes that have fallen into disrepair. Projects include but are not limited to building simple handicap ramps onto a house or replacing subflooring. Those with specialized skills such as plumbers, electricians or carpenters are much appreciated, but anyone willing to swing a hammer is welcome! You'll be blessed by working hard, getting dirty, and fixing homes that may appear unfixable.
Community – Help feed, visit, clothe, and serve those who are enduring hard times. Work in a food pantry, sort clothing to give away, or visit with lonely elderly people. There may be an opportunity to visit local nursing homes. You'll be challenged as you package food items, help people load groceries into their cars and even pray with them as you assist. We may even be asked to mow lawns or wash windows, and hug a lot of people. Opportunities fluctuate with the current needs. i.e. during the floods to Eastern KY in Sept of 2022, we worked in various flood relief capacities.
Children – You'll make a difference as you provide ministry to kids during afterschool programs where we engage with elementary aged kids helping them with homework, art projects or whatever is slated for the afternoon. Occasionally we pack hundreds of weekend "snack packs" for kids to take home with them.
