This Christmas season at White Oak, we’re slowing down.
In a weary world that runs on hurry and hustle, we believe rest and Sabbath are not optional — they’re essential. Especially for those who faithfully serve week after week.
We want to invite you to receive this Sunday as a gift, a sacred pause.
An unhurried day to rest, reflect, and be with God and the people you love.
Use this time as a special Sabbath for you and your family. A Weary World Rejoices and make space for renewal as we head into the new year.
Below you'll find a simple outline you can use to guide your Sabbath Sunday, or plan your own day of Sabbath rest to restore your soul as we prepare for all that the LORD has for you in 2026

STOP
Be still and know that God is God
Sabbath begins when we stop.
Pause your normal pace.
Put distractions aside.
Take a few deep breaths and acknowledge God’s presence.
Scripture:
Luke 2:1–20
Reflection:What would it look like for me to truly stop today?
Prayer:
“God, I stop striving and place my hope in You.”
REST
Experience God’s provision
Rest is trusting that God will provide.
Rest your body and your mind.
Release the pressure to produce or perform.
Allow God to carry what feels heavy.
Scripture:
Matthew 1:18–25
Reflection:What am I carrying that I was never meant to carry alone?
Prayer:
“Jesus, I trust You to provide what I cannot.”
DELIGHT
Find joy in what God is doing; prepare for what is comingTheme: Joy
Joy realigns our focus.
Do something life-giving.
Share a meal, laugh, enjoy beauty, listen to music.
Receive joy as a gift, not a distraction.
Scripture:
Luke 1:46–55
Reflection:Where do I see God’s goodness and joy today?
Prayer:
“God, thank You for the joy You are already bringing.”
FREEDOM
Repent, be empowered, and set others free
Sabbath reveals what we love — and what may be controlling us.
Ask God to show you where you need freedom.
Confess what keeps you hurried, anxious, or self-reliant.
Receive God’s grace and extend it to others.
Scripture:
Matthew 2:1–12
Reflection:What do I need to release so I can love more freely?
Prayer:
“God, free my heart so I can live and love like Jesus.”
WORSHIP
Anticipate the completion of all things
Sabbath is a rhythm of worship.
Light a candle.
Sing, pray, or read Scripture aloud.
Remember that Jesus is bringing all things to completion.
Scripture:
Luke 2:25–32
Reflection:How does worship reshape the way I see my life and the world?
Prayer:
“Jesus, You are Lord. I worship You and trust Your Kingdom is coming.”
Sabbath is not about doing it right It's about being with God.
In a weary world, we rejoice —because Jesus has come, and rest is found in Him.
