Luke 15:17–24 (Click to access the full text.)
The turning point in the parable of the prodigal son is not when the son fixes his life but when he comes to his senses and turns toward home. Repentance begins with clarity. It is the moment we recognize that the direction we are traveling is not leading us toward life.
Notice what draws the son home: not fear of punishment but hope in the father’s goodness. He remembers that even the servants are cared for. Repentance is not fueled by despair; it is fueled by trust in the character of God.
God does not meet us halfway with conditions. He runs toward us with compassion. When we turn our hearts toward Him, we discover that grace has already been moving toward us.
We are invited to come to our senses. Not to wallow in regret, but to turn toward the God who welcomes us home.
Reflection Question: Where in your life might God be inviting you to turn back toward Him?
Prayer: Father, help me come home. I trust Your mercy more than my mistakes. Amen.ee Your goodness. Use my life to invite others to do the same. Amen.
Please use Saturday to catch up and further reflect on the devotions from this week. We invite you to join us Sunday morning for in person worship services. You can learn more at www.thewocc.com
