Tell Your Story

At White Oak, we believe that everyone has a story that can be shared and we want to collect those stories for the benefit of our communities. Thanks for being willing to sit down and share yours! If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out by email (bdoerman@thewocc.com) or by calling 513-245-6323.

How Do I Tell My Story

If you’ve been approached or just interested in telling some of your story, then you can you book a time at https://outlook.office365.com/owa/calendar/WhiteOakStories@thewocc.com/bookings/

What Do I Have to Talk About?

There aren’t any wrong answers and you can talk about anything you like. The interviewer does have some questions to help get things started and to help a story along in case you get stuck. You don’t need to answer any of these questions if you’re not comfortable with them. Some of those questions might be:

  • Tell us a little about where you grew up.

  • Tell us the story about how you came to follow Jesus.

  • What’s something difficult you experienced and where did you see God in it (or not).

How Long Does It Take?

The whole process only takes about 1 hour and looks like this:

  1. Welcome (2 minutes).

  2. Prep (8 minutes): We’ll talk through the Release Form and answer any questions you might have.

  3. Sound Check (5 minutes): Once you’re ready we’ll make sure you’re positioned well and check the audio levels (whether recording video or just audio).

  4. Interview (40 minutes): Trust yourself. It’s impossible for you to “talk to much” so if something moves you keep expanding on it. You don’t have to answer any questions you don’t want to. Just let the interview know you’d like another question.

  5. Photos (5 minutes): We’ll just take a couple of pictures of you to go in the archive with the story.

Does It Have to Be Video?

We’d prefer to film the interview, but we can also only record the audio if video makes you uncomfortable.

What are you going to do with it?

For every story we collect we’ll be archiving it and we can send you a copy of the full recording at your request. You’ll be asked to sign a Release Form to allow us to share parts or all of your recorded story in order to encourage others. It may be distributed on our website, social media outlets, or shown in service and may appear as video, audio, or text. For some we may not end up doing anything with them except adding them to our archive.

Where do we record?

Unless it’s an inconvenient for you, we record in the Studio at the Colerain Campus (3675 Blue Rock Rd. Cincinnati, OH 45247) which is near Entrance E.
