Create in Me a Clean Heart - Tuesday, March 3
Psalm 51:1–12 (Click to access the full text.) David’s prayer is not a promise to do better. It is a plea for God to do what only God can do. “Create in me a clean heart” is a confession of dependence. True repentance is not self-improvement; it is renewal. God is not interested in surface change alone. He desires transformed hearts. Hearts that are honest, teachable, and responsive to His Spirit. The lead up to Easter creates space for this kind of inner work, not through s

Repentance is a Gift - Monday, March 2
Romans 2:4 (Click to access the full text.) We often think of repentance as something we owe God. Scripture tells a different story: repentance is something God gives us. It is His kindness that leads us to change. God does not shame us into transformation. He draws us with patience and grace. When we see God clearly - His goodness, mercy, and faithfulness - our hearts begin to soften. We want to turn, not because we must, but because we trust Him. This time is not about har

February 27, 2026
I can still see the large hardback Bible under the living room coffee table. It was blue with a colorful picture of Jesus on the front of it. I can’t recall what he was doing but he had a big smile on his face. If I had to guess, I’d say this particular Bible was probably printed in the 1970’s. I don’t even recall if it was the full Bible or just excerpts but I can still see in my mind the images inside of the stories I had heard so many times.

Losing Life to Find It - Friday, March 20
Mark 8:34–35 (Click to access the full text.) Jesus speaks plainly - the path to life runs through surrender. This truth feels counterintuitive because we are taught to protect, secure, and preserve ourselves at all costs. The cross confronts our definitions of success and safety. Following Jesus means trusting that what we surrender is not lost, but transformed. When we loosen our grip on self-preservation, we make room for resurrection life. This season invites us to ask n

Fixing Our Eyes on Jesus - Wednesday, March 18
Hebrews 12:1–3 (Click to access the full text.) Endurance grows when our focus is clear. Hebrews reminds us to fix our eyes on Jesus, the One who endured the cross for the joy set before Him. When the road feels long, we remember where Jesus is headed. He walks ahead of us, showing us both the cost and the hope of faithfulness. Lift your gaze. Conviction is sustained not by willpower, but by looking again at Jesus. Reflection Question: What helps you keep your focus on Jesus

Obedience Shaped by Love - Friday, March 13
John 14:15 (Click to access the full text.) Obedience in the Christian life is not rooted in fear, but in love. Jesus connects obedience directly to relationship: “If you love me…” We obey not to earn God’s favor, but because we are secure in it. Love changes what obedience feels like. It becomes a response rather than a requirement. This season invites us to examine our motives. Are we following Jesus out of obligation, or out of love? True conviction grows from gratitude.

One Thing at a Time - Wednesday, March 11
Psalm 27:4 (Click to access the full text.) David names a singular desire: to dwell in God’s presence. In a world full of distractions and competing priorities, conviction begins with focus. We cannot move faithfully in every direction at once. This is a season to simplify, to identify what matters most and align our lives accordingly. Following Jesus is not about doing everything; it is about choosing the one thing that anchors all else. When our hearts are centered on God

Turning Toward Home - Friday, February 27
Luke 15:17–24 (Click to access the full text.) The turning point in the parable of the prodigal son is not when the son fixes his life but when he comes to his senses and turns toward home. Repentance begins with clarity. It is the moment we recognize that the direction we are traveling is not leading us toward life. Notice what draws the son home: not fear of punishment but hope in the father’s goodness. He remembers that even the servants are cared for. Repentance is not

Come and See What God Is Doing - Thursday, February 26
Psalm 34:8 (Click to access the full text.) The invitation is not just to see what God has done but to experience what He is doing now. While the verb taste is often a literal and personal sense, this journey is meant to be shared. God often reveals His goodness as we walk together with others. Reflection Question: Who might God be inviting you to bring along on this journey – with an invitation to this devotional and/or Easter Services at White Oak? Prayer: God, help me tas
